Ophthalmologic cytology is a diagnostic technique based on the microscopic study of cells and microorganisms collected from different parts of the eye, depending on the case.
Ocular cytology is a fundamental tool for diagnosing diseases of the ocular surface, as it allows us to determine the origin of the condition and apply the most suitable therapy for each case. In many instances, samples can be obtained from the ocular surface using a swab or cytology brush, but in certain cases, fine needle aspirations (FNA) are required to collect cells for microscopic examination.
Determining the etiology and stage of the pathology is essential for establishing the appropriate treatment. At IVeM, we routinely perform cytological studies to help you and your furry friend regain health and peace of mind.
