Vital pulp therapy is performed to treat reversible lesions in the dental pulp and preserve its vitality and function. It is used in cases of acute pulp exposure after trauma, or lesions caused during restorative procedures or crown reduction. The goal of the treatment is to hermetically seal the healthy pulp.
This procedure is primarily indicated for immature permanent teeth, which still have an open root apex and thin dentin walls. Maintaining pulp vitality is essential to allow for physiological recovery and apical closure in root development.
