Ultrasound Biomicroscopy (UBM) is an important ultrasound diagnostic test for evaluating the anterior segment of the eyeball and its potential pathological processes. Images are obtained using ultrasound, similar to conventional ultrasound, but the image quality of UBM is superior due to the use of higher frequency probes.
This high-frequency ocular ultrasound allows for a very detailed observation of the cornea, sclera, anterior chamber, iris, iridocorneal angle (especially important in patients with glaucoma), and the anterior capsule of the lens.
It is a non-invasive test, and we can usually perform it without the need to sedate the patient.
UBM is a technique that requires expertise in both capturing quality images and interpreting them. In this regard, you can trust our qualified veterinary team; with us, your furry friend and you are in good hands.
