An ocular biopsy is a procedure aimed at obtaining a tissue sample from an animal's eye for microscopic evaluation (histopathology). Since it’s an invasive technique, it requires anesthesia to ensure the comfort and safety of your pet.
For each specific case, the biopsy must be taken from a particular part of the eye anatomy. This means samples can be collected from eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea or iris.
When paired with histopathological analysis, ocular biopsy becomes a powerful tool for diagnosing many eye diseases. At IVeM, we collaborate with state-of-the-art laboratories for the thorough examination of the obtained tissue samples.
With years of experience and expertise in veterinary ophthalmology, IVeM has the necessary knowledge and skills to perform ocular biopsies and interpret their results effectively.
