Gum Inflammation

Gum inflammation is also known as gingivitis.

Gingivitis is the initial stage of periodontal disease.

This inflammation occurs as a result of plaque buildup along the gum line. Food particles and organic matter promote bacterial growth, forming a film that adheres to the teeth.

Symptoms include redness, swelling, and even gum bleeding. The presence of dental calculus (tartar) is often associated. Professional treatment is required to control it, along with improved and consistent oral hygiene through regular brushing.

It is important to treat gingivitis early to prevent more severe complications, such as progression to periodontal disease (periodontitis), which can eventually lead to tooth loss.

If your dog or cat shows any of these symptoms, visit your canine dental specialist. If you trust us, we’ll be happy to see you. At IVeM, we believe prevention is the best treatment. Maintaining a strict oral hygiene routine is essential for protecting animals from all types of oral diseases.
