Globe Surgery

Ocular surgery refers to surgical procedures performed to address conditions that affect the entire eye. Depending on the issue at hand, there are various types of surgeries available. Some examples include enucleation, exenteration, evisceration, and surgery for strabismus.

Enucleation involves the surgical removal of the eyeball while preserving the remaining orbital structures. It is typically used in cases of intraocular tumors or treatment-resistant glaucoma, among other conditions.

In exenteration, all orbital structures, including the eyeball, are removed. This technique is used in cases of orbital tumors or severe infections.

Evisceration involves the removal of the eye's internal contents and the placement of a prosthesis inside. This technique aims to balance resolving the ocular issue with preserving facial aesthetics.

In strabismus surgery, the focus is generally on the extraocular muscles to correct ocular deviation problems.
