Tear system disorders are quite common in small animals. Broadly speaking, these issues can be categorized into problems affecting the secretory system (such as the main lacrimal gland, accessory glands, or Meibomian glands) or the excretory system (including the lacrimal punctum, sac, or duct).
At IVeM, we have the technology and expertise necessary to accurately diagnose tear system pathologies in each case. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment options may range from using artificial tears to surgical interventions, such as correcting lacrimal gland prolapse or performing a dacryocystorhinostomy to address epiphora (excessive tearing).
Our goal is to provide the best ophthalmological care to our patients, enhancing their quality of life and preventing serious complications in their eye health.
