Dental Absence

Dental Absence is a condition characterized by the lack of one or more teeth. When the absence occurs in the permanent dentition, it poses a problem as it affects the animal's chewing and feeding. The loss can be due to disease, injury, or natural wear; however, sometimes dental absence may be due to dental agenesis (the tooth has not developed).

Radiographic evaluation is necessary to determine whether the issue is due to the tooth not erupting or if there is a true absence.
