Oral Mass

Oral masses are abnormal growths or proliferations that can appear in the mouth, including surrounding soft tissues (mucosa, gums, and tongue) as well as hard tissues like teeth and jawbones. Among the various types of oral masses, we find tumors, cysts, abscesses, and inflammatory lesions.

Oral tumors, or neoplasms, are common in both dogs and cats. Depending on their origin, they can be classified as odontogenic neoplasms (from dental tissue) and non-odontogenic neoplasms (from other types of soft tissue unrelated to teeth). Additionally, they can be categorized into malignant or benign tumors.

Treatment is heavily influenced by the type of mass present, but surgical removal of the growth and subsequent biopsy analysis are always necessary. Histopathological evaluation will help classify the condition and determine its severity.

At IVeM, we specialize in the prevention and treatment of oral cavity pathologies, and we have a qualified team that is constantly in training. Our experienced professionals will always recommend the most appropriate treatment for each case.
