Diagnostic Tests

Dental Biopsy

An odontological biopsy is a procedure performed to obtain a sample of tissue present in the animal's oral cavity for microscopic evaluation. It is, therefore, an invasive technique that requires anesthesia.

An odontological biopsy is a powerful tool for the accurate diagnosis of a variety of oral cavity pathologies. It is indicated for the evaluation of ulcers, masses, or tumor growths in the oral region. The removed tissue sample is subjected to histopathological analysis so that professionals can determine the nature of the lesion.

The performance of this diagnostic test is often complemented by dental radiography or cytology to provide more information about the condition and achieve a more precise diagnosis based on thorough analysis.

At IVeM, as a center specialized in veterinary dentistry and with years of experience, we possess significant knowledge and skills for conducting this diagnostic test, obtaining representative samples of the lesion, and correctly interpreting the results.
